The Christmas Feeling..

When planning to add a little Christmas to your learning environment think about observations made and learning experiences that the children really enjoy and add a little Christmas to it.

Put glitter containers with the sand pit toys and playdough. Have gold, silver, red and green easel painting. Do “Butterfly Painting” with Christmas Trees, the colours being the lights on the tree. Fill collage trolleys and box construction areas with recycled Christmas cards (remember to rip the personal greetings off!), wrapping paper, tinsel and ribbon. Music and movement experiences can be done to Christmas carols and songs.

Remember, the meaning and feeling of Christmas is so much more than filling the children’s days with “Christmas Craft” activities.  It’s the feeling that you, the children and the families bring to the learning environment that truly means it’s Christmas.
